Community Involvement Programme (CIP)
please be informed that the school BAND will be involved in the Flag Day organised by Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore). The aim of the programme is to inculcate the spirit of volunteerism among the band members.

The details of the programme are as follows:

Date: 14th November 2009 (Saturday)
Time: 9am
Venue to report: Shaw Tower MacDonalds

Attire: (you've got 3 choices)
1. normal school uniform
2.pe tee shirt with either school white pants/school skirts
3.red band tee shirt with either school white pants/ school skirts

Please note: PE shorts or non-school pants are not allowed
Sec 2s are not allowed to wear your long pants even if you have it.

by the way, this activity is compulsory for whole band.

Last Warning!
you'll have to pass up the following items latest latest by tomorrow:

band fund

please do not forget because if you do not hand it in tomorrow, you will also be severely punished by the majors.

Hi Gessband! (:
Firstly, congratulations on completing the academic year of 2009! You've done a brilliant job, coping with studies, CCA and friendships maybe even teachers! Hahah, so give yourself a pat! (:
Alright, not forgetting, band practice will still be on during the holidays, DO NOT GO HUHHHHHH, remember, practice makes perfect and only through hardwork will you then see the fruit of success! I guess that's enough reasons for you to turn up, isn't it? Anyway, here are some gentle reminders and announcements :

Bring $10 for band camp. Tracy will be collecting.
Bring $6 for band fund ( if you have yet to do so)
Attire for Tuesday band practice: If you have lessons, you can just come in your school uniform, for those who do not have lessons, you can come in your red band tee, or PE attire, for the secondary ones.

Yup, that should be all. By the way, Guoen and I will not be attending band practice for the first week as we have NCO camp, so do cooperate with Tracy and Casabella as well as the rest of the NCOs! Dont forget, Band practice on 3rd nov starts at 1.30pm! With that, have a blessed and fruitful week ahead.

Thank you again for hard work during Fri Rehearsal.Well done! Some leaders stay back after that for meeting and doing other stuffs, thanks for the commitment. Anyway the Fri Rehearsal i still spotted a lot of members who can't really play the national day music.Some disappointment here and there but i hope this is not the standard for the actual next Fri.Seating arrangement of the band didn't look right at all.Remember to bring the Drum-set on Tue Reh and all percussionist and all juniors must at be playng/doing something in this event. unless they are constant absentees.
As for the majors i hope to see more teamwork behind this event( preparation together before hand i mean) not so much of the on the spot improvisation.
Sorry to be straight forward on my advise, for those who have been with me for years you know this is my style. Lets work hand in hand to bring Gess band to a greater height ,SYF 2011 preparation i believed all starts from this moment not next year.Every major/minor event must be close to perfection.But of cos don't forget to enjoy playing music.
There will still be practice after national Day till the end of August.We will be doing some basic to polished up our skill and i be be trying out the songs for SYF and concert.A lot of nice pieces waiting ahead to be played.:>librarians can start to prepare these songs when ever you have time to do so.

Hi Gessband, its my first time posting here. But its a very important post so DO continue reading! (:

As all of you should be aware by now, on 29 June 2009, Gessband will be performing for the AYG. So the details are as follow,

Reporting time: 11.45am for current band members ( NO LATE COMERS! PUNCTUALITY IS GREATLY EMPHASIZED) & 12.45 for sec4s.
Attire: WEAR school uniform to school.
Please being along these items, thermometer, report book, band uniform, instrument, file (if youve brought it home)
Once you reached the band room at 11.45, take your temperature outside and show it to either Tracy or Casabella. Please note that youre not allow to enter the band room without taking your temperature or if you have a temperature of > 38.1 . In the event that you didnt bring along your thermometer, youre expected to PURCHASE a new one at the school bookshop. ( Ive reminded you all ALOT of times already, so this time, we got to go the hard way! )
At 11.55, after you take your temperature, go into the band room and set up your instruments, if you got not enough time to set up your stands and file, its alright. Make sure you get your instruments ready first.
At 12.05 SHARP, we will rehearse the movement of TEQUILA. NCOS are to rehearse their part too. Note to EUNICE: Withdrawn UD key to take the letters. Thanks.
Estimated to finish the TEQUILA rehearsal by 12.25, then all of you will procceed back to class.
At 12.45 report back to the band room again. Please tell your teachers that youve performance, im sure they are aware of it and they will kindly excuse you from class.
We will go through olympic spirit once again. It should finish by 1pm.
1.00-1.45 : Band will do their warm up and tuning, Note to GUOEN, Stay in the band room to warm up the band as well as tune.
Meanwhile, percussionist will start moving instruments to hall, Note to MARCUS, Youre in charge of this so make sure all the instruments are there. Note to JESSICA, I will be in the hall to see to the arrangements.
Once the band is done warming up/ tuning, which is approximately 1.45, you will be given 15 mins to change into your band uniform ( The time given is depending on how fast you warm up/ cooperate with guoen. So if you decide to take your on sweet time, im afraid you'll have lesser time to change)
From 2pm to 2.15pm, we will do a quick uniform check to make sure everyone is in tip top condition. (im sure all of you know whats the uniform expectations like so if there's anything wrong with your uniform, quickly get in done!)
SLs please take note of how many stands and files you'll bring to the hall. (Do not misplace anything and everyone please be more compassionate, help those who need help okay! )
Once the leaders get the signal from the teachers, the band will move SWIFTLY to the hall. ( i repeat myself, SWIFTLY.)
Note to JESSICA/EUNICE/CASABELLA, Look for me(jessica) immediately when you reached the hall, you are the ICs for the seating arrangement in the hall. Leave your files and stands for your section mate to take for you, just bring along your own instruments.
Row one and Row 2 will stand on the left hand side of the hall, ( the side nearer to the classrooms). Note to TRACY, Youre the IC for this 2 rows, make sure that they are in the correct sitting order, row 1 will move in first followed by row 2. Do cooperate with your ICs and be quietly seated down there, do not make too much noise as the performance is still on going.
For Row 3, You will stand on the right side of the hall, (the side nearer to the carpark/school main gate). Note to JIAJUN, you are the IC for the 3rd row, just like what tracy has to do, you got to ensure that the band is arrange in the correct sitting position and make sure that they are quiet as we do not want to interupt the other performances.
Once everything on stage is done, i'll give the 2 ICs the signal and all of you will move up quietly, LIGHT-FOOTED-LY. (i dont think there's such a word, but i know you understand what i mean.)

----------------------------AFTER PERFORMANCE ONE--------------------------------------

Between the 2 peformances is only a short 10 mins break. You are not allowed to go for recess or whatsoever. You can leave your instruments on the stage and go for a short toilet break/ water break. DO INFORM EITHER JESSICA OR GUOEN.

------------------------AFTER PERFORMANCE TWO---------------------------------------

All band members are to move their instuments/ stands and file back to the band room. BUT DO NOT KEEP YOUR INSTRUMENTS, JUST PLACE IT NICELY INSIDE.
Percussionist are to move all your instruments to the back of the stage, make sure it doesnt block the passage way. Note to GUOEN: Stay in the hall to see to the percussion instruments.
All MALE band members, with the exception of matthew, Go back to the hall to help the percussionist. ( do not make alot of noise when moving the instruments, if you cant carry so heavy things, help with the lighter ones. Do not try to solo one timpani cause you will either spoil the instrument or spoil yourself. And i do not want such things to happen.)
All the FEMALE band members, you will stay in the band room, pack up the chairs, clear up your section's things, as well as help keep the guy's instruments.
When everyone is back, you will be given 10 mins to change out of your band uniform into your school uniform.
After which, we will stay in the band room and await the torch to run pass the band room.
When the torch is approching, band members are to form 2 lines by the side of the level 3 arena, and when the person run pass, WE CLAP! (: (once again, i know many of you are quite jealous that youre not the one running, BUT, kindly keep your hands/legs/mouth to yourself. DO NOT PURPOSELY PUT YOUR LEG OUT AND TRIP THE PERSON OR BLOW OUT THE FIRE OR ANYTHING ELSE OKAYYYY!)
Once the torch is out of our sight, we can go back and join our class. AND MISSION ACCOMPLISH! (:

Yup, thats about it, i'll fill you up with more information on monday itself. Lastly, I wanna thank the whole band for the great effort put in during the June Holiday practices. I know its not easy waking up at 7 plus to come for band, but WHEE! YOU DID IT, BRAVOOO! So Monday is the fruit of your hardwork, make sure the things that Mr foo/ leaders/ Sls said, bare that in mind and do not repeat the same mistakes again!

hello band!
i hope you enjoyed every moment of today:D
because i enjoyed it lots! from the dividing of groups all the way till the cleaning up.
and thankyou everyone for being so sporting and enthu(:
especially at the blowing of flour part. it was fun to see the whole groups face get white together!
and you all proved your great determination today, i know some groups got fustrated. but, good job everyone, for not giving up! :D
i hope you all liked the prizes(: and please keep the bookmarks in your band file or somewhere where you wont lose it, alright:D
lastly, thankyou everyone for making this FUNDAY 2009 possible. It was a fun and memorable day for every one. well, at least for us NCOS 2009/2010!

tomorrow is FUNDAY!
here are some details and reminders:

Bring along your Pe attire to school
Report to the band room by 2.45 p.m SHARP!
Change into your PE attire before reporting
BE PUNCTUAL!
you will definitely perspire, so bring along an extra attire, deodorant, towel...
remind your band mates about tomorrows FUNDAY!

Lastly, come with an enthu heart! beacause FUNDAY is a day for the band members to socialise, interact, bond and know each other better!

hello band!
this coming thursday (23 April 2009), will be the handing over ceremony for all CCAs.
Band Members will have to wear your RED BAND TEE proudly :D

BOYS:

Red Band Tee
White Pants Shorts

Girls:

Red Band Tee
Green skirt

DO NOT WEAR PE SHORTS!

sec 1's, since you do not have your band tee yet, just wear your school uniform as usual.

Lastly, you are allowed to wear the band tee for the whole day. So, you can report to school in it.
